This poetry odyssey provides a path into the primal—mystical, miraculous, mysterious land of flowers. A shared ritual across human cultures, flowers are given at life’s milestones: celebrations, births, graduations, courtships, weddings, illnesses, and death.
Our anthology was born from simple beliefs: Flowers, if noticed, make people smile. Given flowers are from one heart to another. Poetry nourishes the soul, the heart, and the mind. In a time when the world is tumultuous and technological advances are rapid, we wanted to create something tangible that deepened our connection to ourselves, each other, and the earth.
The anthology includes 89 poems from 65 poets around the world, crowdsourced online during a global pandemic. Our process of selection was a feeling-based blind reading: If a poem sparked emotion within us, it was included. The writers are a collection of established authors, and many are published for the first time. Each poet was paid an honorarium for their work. This is our offering in hopes that these poems evoke feeling and reflection in you.
