Bittersweet
Several days ago the light changed. It was fall. Transitions are complex.
Bittersweet from our book, EVERYDAY MERMAID.
OCEAN
Part one from the Water series. We come from the ocean—our water mother. The more we feel her, the more whole we become and the more we support life on our planet.
OCEANS is from my book, EVERDAY MERMAID. A collaborative art poetry book with artist Deidre Scherer.
CRY JOY
This poem is the second in a two-part series on water. It actually started out as one and after continuous rewrites, it kept ending up as gobbledygook. I stopped. Realized they complemented each other, but could not be united. Happy now they are on a full spread talking to each other. OCEANS, the first poem in the water series to follow.
CRY JOY is from my book, EVERYDAY MERMAID. A collaborative art/poetry book with artist Deidre Scherer.
The Meaning of Tears
This poem helped me go into my heart and feel the pain. This heartbreak we are experiencing now is part of being humans connected to nature.
All Week
The unknown can be scary. A week of summer nights give comfort and opportunity.
From our book, Everyday Mermaid.
The Miracle of Water
Enjoying a glass of water’s deliciousness on a hot summer day brings you back to joy.
In Memoriam
Besides physical deaths of dear ones, there can be other deaths that are important to support and honor.
CLOTHES ARE UNDERRATED: Or, This Dress Is Not Waterproof
A poem/blessing for my eldest daughter when she got married. It honors the life stream that holds it.
GRIEF
My mother-in-law(ex) died last week. We knew each other for 48 years. It was a tricky relationship ending in great love. I miss her. One of her daughters wrote me and said a younger woman shared her discovery about grief: “Under tremendous grief is tremendous love.”
I dedicate this poem to Mammy/Anne in hopes it can provide some comfort and windows for your grief.
OCEANS
We come from the ocean—our water mother. The more we feel her, protect her both outside us and inside us, the more whole we become and the more we support life on our planet.
My poem OCEANS from our book, EVERYDAY MERMAID.
Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who have mothered in any way. My wish is that in the burgeoning #MeToo Movement that “mothering” gets as much respect as all the other issues we are fighting for.
A Woman’s Joy. From our book Everday Mermaid.
